Information about HOCTIL
Heart of Central Texas Independent Living Center, Inc. or HOCTIL is a private 501c3 non-profit. We promote independence for people with disabilities and/or chronic illness to live independently in their communities. We serve all ages and all disabilities regardless of income.
We believe in consumer choice and consumer directed services. Your Life… Your Way.
We offer 5 core services
- Advocacy,
- Peer Support,
- Information and Referral,
- Skills Training, and
- Transition services.
Our primary counties served include Bell, McLennan, Coryell, and Hill counties.
Along with our core services, HOCTIL also has a wide variety of programs. HOCTIL offers the following programs:
Ticket To Work Program, which assists those on SSDI go back to work while still maintaining their benefits for a period of time. HOCTIL also assists with employment training to gain skills needed to obtain and maintain employment.
Consumer Directed Services Program, which assists those on a Medicaid Waiver program be their own employer. These individuals can become their own employer and self-direct their care. They can hire their own employees to be their attendants. HOCTIL acts as their fiscal agent, maintaining their payroll and payroll taxes.
Assistive Technology Program – HOCTIL is a demonstration site for the University of Texas Access System to give demonstrations of different types of assistive technology that assist someone to live in their home independently.
All our services and programs are in line with our overall mission of promotion of independence for people with disabilities through self-determination and to advocate for people with disabilities for equal access and actively participate in their community.
