March 10 Action Team: A GIS demo
Come join us for our March Action Team Meeting and learn all about GIS.
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is a smart mapping tool that helps us see and understand information about our community on a map. For Mobilize Waco, GIS can turn our walk-and-roll audit findings into clear, interactive maps that show where sidewalks, curb ramps, crossings, and other areas in the public right of way may need improvement.
Also in development is a simple online GIS reporting tool that will allow residents in the Greater Waco area to report ADA barriers they encounter. Community members will be able to describe the issue, choose the type of concern, and mark the location on a map or provide an address. This will help us gather real-world input and better identify accessibility needs across Waco.
At the March meeting, Bob Sisco will explain how GIS works and demonstrate how these mapping tools can support accessibility improvements and advocacy efforts.
