Introduction
Open meetings are important for transparency and participation. To keep things orderly and productive, we need to follow these rules:
- Respectful Communication
- Speak respectfully to everyone.
- Focus on issues, not people.
- Only one person speaks at a time. No interruptions.
- Participation and Speaking Order
- Raise your hand or use the electronic system to speak.
- The chair will call on speakers in order.
- Time limits may be set for each speaker to ensure everyone has a chance to talk.
- Public Participation
- Stick to the meeting topic.
- Public comments should be short (2-3 minutes) and relevant.
- Disruptive behavior (like shouting or interrupting) will lead to removal.
- Recording and Documentation
- Meetings will be recorded and live-streamed with captions.
- ASL interpretation is available with at least 10 business day’s written notice.
- Meeting summaries can be requested in writing.
- Enforcement
- The chair or moderator will enforce these rules.
- Serious or repeated violations will result in warnings or removal.
Conclusion: By following these rules, we can ensure our meetings are productive, respectful, and inclusive.
